Marta Honer - Viola

Marta Honer is an active musician that has performed across the United States, Canada, Spain, Portugal and Finland. Working in both classical and contemporary fields, Marta has performed and recorded with a wide variety of groups including Beyoncé, Ariana Grande, Ms. Lauryn Hill, Portugal. The Man, Kamasi Washington, BTS, Mariah Carey, and more.

Located in Los Angeles, Marta freelances as a viola and violin performer and session player. She enjoys time in the studio recording for film, TV, and albums, and regularly performs with the contemporary chamber ensemble Sonic Open Orchestra. Recent recording highlights include Beyoncé’s Grammy nominated album Lion King: The Gift, Angel Olsen’s record All Mirrors, and the final season of NBC’s show The Good Place.

Born and raised in Madison, WI, Marta left her hometown early to finish high school at the acclaimed Interlochen Arts Academy where she studied both violin and viola. Graduating with a focus on viola, she moved to Chicago to receive a B.M. from DePaul University, studying under Rami Solomonow (Lyric Opera) and various Chicago Symphony Orchestra musicians.

Upcoming projects include playing in a new experimental and interactive opera entitled Sweetland with the Industry this spring, and releasing solo material.
